What is causing a clicking noise (like a ratchet) when using the foot brake? The garage have road tested it but it will not make the noise to order, they cannot find anythng wrong. The brakes work fine.

if this car has ABS it sounds like a faulty ABS pump .
only thing i can think of is the self adjusting assy on the rear brake shoes adjusting themselves up.this should not happen every time you apply the brakes though.
can u feel any vibration through the pedal ?
