My car insurer issues me with a certificate of insurance for my vehicle, but I cannot find a certificate for my house within the policy documentation emailed to me by my property insurer. Their document contains policy schedule and a statement of fact, but no certificate as such. Do house insurers issue insurance certificates?

Can't say I've ever seen one.  What would they 'certify'?

Mine is emailed to me as a PDF Dusty.

Often listed as a 'Schedule'.

Sorry. I see you already have a Schedule.

As far as I know... that's it.

Not any more.

Can't say I've ever seen one.  What on earth WOULD  they 'certify'?

that you have the relevant insurance for chrissakes.

oddly enough, I got one last week ( cert of ins) and thought - they dont usually do that ....

if you are unsure ring them up, give the policy number or your customer number and verify that you are insured, and make a note of it

and even more funnily.... I got and usually demand a renewal letter,

which said " your insurance has been renewed..."

and it hadnt ! haw haw haw

I had to negotiate a new insurance policy and so wasnt covered for the thirteen days. The insurer was VERY unwilling to accept - "has been renewed" could bear that meaning and not their intended meaning which was:

"has not been renewed unless you pay moolah quig".

Madams Smarmey the insurance agent was full of " so you are saying, "renewed" means "hasnt been renewed". WE are saying, "renewed" means "pay up or we will not renew it and we will cancel it and then it will not have been renewed"

and I heard her whisper, "chrissakes cant the proles who ring me understand plain English?"

There's some good answers there. Thank you! I haven't been given a definitive "yes, they always issue  one", so maybe I'm ok. The local council (for reasons I won't bore you with) have asked for a copy of my house's certificate of insurance and, like I say, I don't have one! I'm insured, certain of that, but once the insurer reopens Monday morning, I shall indeed be onto them to ask why they didn't provide me with a certificate. Cheers!

it is a skool leava demanding that

send them anything that has 'you are insured over x date to y date'

and tell them it is a cert.

oh and only send them a copy - NOT the original

I don't think I've ever had a house insurance certificate.

The schedule will suffice, it will have the policy number and the council will check with your insurance company that you haven't cancelled it, exactly as they would if you had a piece of paper titled 'certificate of insurance'.
