Does it do anything else? i.e. does the drum turn at all, does it let water in and does it empty the water OK before trying to spin

if it's an oldish indiset it could just be the brushes need replacing in the motor, £15 and 10min to do.

Thanx Chris, it does everything but only a slow spin that leaves the clothes sopping. It used to do a fast spin.
With the lack of any details (like model etc) it's pretty hard to say anything here....

I would still check the brushes first, if not that it's possibly the motor control module (expensive) and after that anything else becomes really expensive!

This video shows a hotpoint motor, older indesits had identical motors and even the newer ones the principle is the same

Make sure you disconnect the mains if you are going to check them yourself, But I really would recomend getting somebody else who knows what they are looking for to check them.
I;ve just had that problem with 2 machines (I'm greedy). One was a belt (very cheap to replace) the other was a brush (also cheapist).

In the past though, it has been the motor or even an electric wire come loose. Find a man who can. I found a Polish one - very lovely, knowledgeable, quick and cheap ;-)
I'd fix your brush for nothing salla.
Dammit man - I've just shelled out £20. Mind you, he did throw in a quick service and a wipe down.

thanx all.....it was due to the filter not being screwed in, so the valve (????) garble from plumber.

£30 - it works fine now.
have you cleaned the filter , usually at the front behind the cover that comes off at the bottom.
ours stopped spinning about 2 months ago and my m8 told me about this and it workes perfectly since i got all the stuff that was clogging the filter up.
