why don't my car run

i have a 1989 ford escort which got the our day it was running great when i first got it then i put some fuel in it and it started to rattle and miss fire now i can not get it run at all can some one please help me.

Are you sure you haven't put diesel in a petrol car or vice versa as you say that your problems only started after refuelling?
