Hello
Is it just me - or do thermostats on wall not work! I have a Worcester Bosch Combi boiler in my flat which is fine, but whatever I do with the wall thermostat I have to get up and down and physically switch it off/on to maintain a good temp in the rads.

Now, I click it on to say 23c and it will just click itselg on/off and the rads are all very hot. But if I want the rads a little cooler I thought I would put it at say 20c - but then once it switches off it will not go on again and the rads get cold. I then click it on hardly at ll and the boiler cuts in again!

The 'stat is fairly new and is situated on the wall in the hall. It is located about 1.5 metres from the hall rad and the engineer says that is why it does not work properly! But, I switched of that rad completely and it made no difference - so tht can't be it. Is it the combi boiler as when I had a normal boiler a few years ago, I was able to set the rads to just nicely warm all day and they switched on and off ok.

I have the boiler set to 3 for heting and 3 for water and the temp is about right. Does it make a difference if I reduce the boiler heating temp down to say 2 - would that mean the stat would work on the wall?

I am a confused pensioner!!

Thanks

The purpose of the wall stat is not to control the temperature of the water inside the rad, it is to control the temperature of the room. The room gets warmer by the hot rad giving out its heat into the room.
If you run the rads at a cooler temperature (which you can do by turning down the BOILER temperature by say 10 degrees) it WILL take longer for the rooms to warm up.
Given your comment above, that would indeed mean turning the boiler setting down from 3 to 2, say.

Thanks Builders Mate. I will try this and set the boiler lower and see if there is any difference.
