Replacing Honeywell Wireless Thermostat

Hi! We have a Honeywell Wireless Thermostat CM927 and the display has stopped displaying properly on the temperature side so we can't see the temp. So I want to replace the unit but I am struggling to find out the following (even Honeywell haven't responded to my email):
1. Is this something I can do myself?
2. Can I just replace the freestanding unit or does it come as one package with the receiver thingy that is on the wall next to the boiler?

At the risk of asking the obvious - you have tried changing the battery, haven't you?

Yes! Thank you! I hoped it would be simple but sadly not. It's been dropped a couple of times. A lot of the cells (if that's the right word) on the display still work but not enough for me to be able to usefully use things like the party setting etc.
You should be able to do it yourself, simply by replacing new-for-old and then rebinding. Use the downloads here for instructions. (The links are on the right of the page):

If you're stuck, call Honeywell on 0300 130 1299.
Lines are open from 0900 to 1700 (or 1600 Fri) on weekdays only.
Calls are charged at the same rate as 01 or 02 numbers, from both landlines and mobiles (which means that they'll effectively be free on many call packages).
Select option 1 if you want to be treated as a 'homeowner' but option 2 if you think that being seen as an 'installer' might be better.

Thank you! I had looked at the Honeywell page but was unsure as to what "binding" means - is it basically the same process as when you link a device to WiFi or a pair a mobile phone to a car?
It's not really my area of expertise but, as I see it, it's simply akin to pairing Bluetooth devices.
