received a new key from scottish power today which i buy electricity for to put into the meter.
i registered this key in my leccy box,then went to the launderette to put leccy on it,they said that it was invalid and would have to go to a pay point shop,is this right.

i think you do need a pay point place for these. i used to have one of those keys in my last flat and it was only places with the sign outside that i could top it up

think they slot the key into the pay point machine and top it up that way
correct, most small shops will have one, i know nearly all co-op have them i would imagine most large food chains do as well, a lot of petrol garages do as well, keep a look out for the PP sign outside the shop its yellow with 2 black p's on it, you can also use these machines to pay for water, gas, council tax, t.v license, phone bills, oyster cards and the london congestion charge, there is quite a lot those little yellow boxes can do :)
Just a quicky on the water rates ones....you can't pay for water on a PayPoint machine. Water is to be paid for on a PayZone machine.

You can pay your water rates on PayPoint, I definately do. Maybe it depends which water company your account is with, mine is Severn Trent.

Well actually no - few if any of the large supermarkets have paypoints. It's more convenience stores, garages, newsagents and the like.
