Help with Tomtom sat.nav.

Had it for about 3 years, very happy with it. Last week screen went dead, little green light is on. Husband treated me to a new one - same model (I do all the driving, so it was wise of him!!!), arrived today, I set it up, plug it in, little green light is on, screen is dead.
Cigar lighter in car works perfectly alright. Do I need to drive around for a while to charge up battery? I just have no idea, I am sooo ignorant about these technical things and really distraught!!So please help me!!! In simple language, please

if I don't use mine for a couple of weeks it takes a while to "wake up". give it a good charge and see what happens.

On the back (or the side, I cant remember!) There is a tiny hole. Stick a pin in it and it should re-set.
I reckon the old one would do the same!

Lolly is right. There is a reset button hidden somewhere.

mine does the same thing quite often, as said by others there is a reset button on the base next to where the memory card goes in (a very tiny hole). Push a paper clip size wire into it to reset it and that will cure it.

Whatever you do dont bother contacting Tom Tom. I spent several hours trying to find a way of getting in touch with them (by email only apparently - no phones in denmark). When i eventually got someone to speak to (a solicitors letter and three weeks later), they were only interested in telling me it was a technical fault which they would look in to! Six weeks later it eventually got fixed - ADVISE ALL YOUR FRIENDS - TOM TOM ARE USELESS! has anyone got the phone number for Garmin.......
