Go to a haberdashers, often in markets, and get some special tape that, when the article is folded up inside you apply the tape and use a hot iron to set the glue - mine have last ages like that and doesn't wash off either! Good luck

I forgot to mention I don't have a sewing machine!!!
the sticky stuff is called wondaweb.......

I just cut them off as much as i want, fold them over (whilst turned inside out) ans sew the hem about 1 cm from the bottom. It helps if you pin it all the way round and take out the pins as you sew just so you know its straight.
also......JML make a fairly cheep mini sewing machine for such things.....
yes the jml machine is about 20 but you can get one cheaper on ebay - or just hand sew.

if they are all the same length, get the alteration person to do one and ask them to give you back the bit they have cut off (for patches) - then use that as a guide to how much to cut off the rest of them, then just fold in about centimetre, then fold again a bit bigger than that, then sew or wonderweb it.

We had a similar Q here a little while ago and I posted a link to a video of how the *professionals* do it.

Once you have learned to sew, you will find yourself easily able to do all sorts of other useful things, like shorten curtains, nets, make things like cushion covers, repair garments etc. It's a really handy skill !
