I have just tried to post an answer to 'lobster thermidor' in the ffod and drink section...my answer was not allowed on the grounds that it contained profanity..unless vocabulary has changed a lot since my day, I'm pretty sure that it didn't. Has this happened to anyone else?

yes - I couldn't use the word "sc*m", hardly a shocking word and in fact a noun which might be required in answering a question. What was the word you couldn't use? (you'll have to type it with * * of course!)

That's the problem, I don't know. I was talking about shelling lobster, mouthfuls, jersey potatoes mayonnaise, lemon and lime and scallions..oh and champagne
That is very strange, surely "mouthful" couldn't be deemed a profanity? (if it has been allowed in this post then it musn't be) I can see why there is some censorship, but there are all sorts of everyday words that could be potentially used in a lewd way - where does it all end?
Hi woofgang, remember when I couldn't call my female dog a b*tch?
don't you think the whole using *stars* thing does the opposite to what it's meant to? as in it over emphasises the 'profane' word.plus it's so f**king patronising!
THATS IT! The word scallion is pig ;atin for a woman's *******

well you learn something new ever day...so how did it get through in your post??
I've just seen "slapper" in another post - I can't think of any context that this would be used in other than as a derogatory comment, so how come this is allowed and other words are banned? It's a nonsense, you can't just ban words out of context (other than the obvious swear words). humpffffff
and apparantly pisser is acceptable. Sorry woofgang, I am going on abou this......
Could you have used the word silt or crakc (anagrams)?
Most forums use a profanity filter, and this is tuned by the admin to add any words they choose, and of course it means words like 'Dickens' are then bumped as they have another banned word in them etc. The balance is a fine one, and if you can't put in a polite word as it has a related impolite one, you just have to misspell it. Like fcuk I suppose.
Kags - Could a slapper be a person who administers a blow to a slappee?
