I have had to correct the clock on our laptop a few times recently, does anyone know why it would go wrong so regularly please ?

the usual cause of this problem is failure of the CMOS battery.

The above article will explain.

basically the battery enables important motherboard settings to be saved when you switch off your laptop.

The battery is easily replaced in desktop pc's

However with laptops it depends on the make. Some are beyond the competence of the average diy'er as they need to be soldered into the motherboard.
