How do i connect my tv, dvd recorder, freeview box, and satellite reveiver- all have 2 scarts. I want to be able to record from freeview or satellite. My recorder has its own digital tuner so maybe can record freeview from this in which case the connections would be different. Please help!

Have you looked in the booklets that came with your Sky box or DVD recorder?

In most of these booklets there are instructions for setting these things up.

Does this page help ?

Or this ?

As a matter of interest, why do you need Freeview if you have Sky ?

I thought all channels on Freeview were available on Sky ?

If you want to record from Sky AND Freeview then you will probably need to use the digital tuner in the DVD recorder as you cannot easily connect the Sky box AND the freeview box to the DVD recorder.
As far as the aerial is concerned it needs to go:

1) Aerial from roof INTO Sky Box

2) Aerial from Sky box to Freeview box

3) Aerial from Freeview box to DVD recorder

4) Aerial from DVD Recorder to TV

As far as scart is concerned it needs to go:

1) Sky box (Video/VCR out) to DVD Recorder

2) DVD Recorder to TV

As in the same picture

The picture above shows the Freeview box (number 7) going direct to the TV. So you could watch it but not record from it.

You would need to record from the digital tuner in the DVD recorder.

I guess the extra Freeview box does allow you to record one freeview channel while watching another.

Not sure if you have a Sky+ box but I would consider it, as with that you can record two channels at the same time, or record one channel while watching another.

All this is recorded on a hard disk in the sky+ box and can be saved, watched, and then recorded onto DVD if you want to keep it.
Sort your inputs from your outputs and you will sort it out.

There is two scart outlets from the sky use one for TV and one for DVD recorder. Dump the freeview cause as its been said already you have those channels on sky i pressume, thats why i dumped my freeview when i got sky.

Just not long set up an LCD 42" to Sky HD and a DVD recorder its not hard as long as you keep in mind what your inputs and outputs are and whats needs what.

Thanks for your help guys but I do not have sky-it's just a normal decoder so that we're able to watch (and hopefully record) the italian channels. Set it up last night and was able to record from the dvd recorder's freeview while watching freeview from my set top box-no problems there! Then tried to record some italian channels but screen was black with some interference. I hooked the decoder (vcr out) to the line in on the dvd recorder (says decoder on it) so don't understand why it didn't record. Have looked at all the connections diagrams but they don't seem to have my set up. Any (more) help appreciated!
