i was involved in a car accident the other day. there was not much damage to my car, it was only the bumper which was already mashed anyway. don't know who's fault it was, at the scene we decided not to go through insurance. i got my bumper fixed by a friend. i recieved a call from the othe guy's insurance company the other day. i don't want him to claim through my insurance, i am prepared to pay for the damage to his car. is it too late, or can i just tell his insurance company that i will pay for the repair of his car, and not to go through my insurance?

You don't know who's fault it was but you are willing to pay for his damage ?

That's very generous of you.

You can pay for the repair but you're leaving yourself open for a big payout. You are effectively admitting liability for the accident by agreeing to pay his damage.

think it was my fault coz i just swerved into the lane, and then he banged into the back of my car. the damage to his car is not that bad, just a dent in the door and abit of the wing, won't cost that much. when his insurance ring me should i tell them that i will pay forthe repair of his car, and not to claim through my insurance?
I'd let your insurance company deal with it. If he hit you from behind then usually its that persons fault.

Its very difficult for any one to give you sound advice without all the details - I think it would be foolhardy to admit and pay for damage which you might not be liable for.
