I have a combi boiler: why would I, suddenly, not get hot water through my kitchen sink tap, but still get hot water from both my bathroom sink and bath taps?

As you still have hot water at you're other taps then this would sugest a problem with you're kitchen tap and not a boiler problem. The most likely cause is a faulty/worn tap washer that has diss-lodged in the seating of the tap and it will simply require taking out anda new washer fitting.

sorry... should have made it more clear. The water runs cold.
The pressure seems the same, but it won't fire the boiler.
is it a mixer tap?
should have added, if it is, then it might be something blocking the hot water side of the mixer as gasman suggests.

yes it is a mixer tap. have just discovered that when the heating is on and the boiler is fired up, then I can draw hot water from the tap. As soon as the heating goes off it's back to cold water only. I am beginning to wonder if I should reset the whole sysyem. What does anyone think to that?
Last summer I had the same sort of problem, hot water from the bathroom taps but none from the kitchen taps, both are mixer taps.... but the taps wasn't the problem, it was a problem with the combi boiler, it was some sort of diaphram, I really can't remember what it was called exactly but the plumber took about 5 minutes to replace the old one and it cost about 40.
