When my phone got drenched in champagne and died I called o2 and said it has just stopped working and I didnt know why. As it is under warranty for the term of the contract they just sent me a new phone once I had returned mine to them. Although be warned that they did state that if after inspection it was found to be user fault then I would be charged. (although I never was). I have got phones wet before and just leaving them on a radiator for a fews ours with the back open seemed to work.

Oh dear this happened to me on Saturday, spilt a smirnoff ice all over my Nokia N80. The screen stopped working, I tried to dry it out on the radiator in a towell and although it is now all dried out the screen flickers and there is no backlight!
My advice would be to dry it out fully, then contact your contract provider and say your phone has stopped working and they will send you a replacement. Aslong as it is fully dried out before you send it back they should just think it is a faulty handset. Im going to send mine back to the catalogue hehe!
If you havn't got phone insurance try your home insurance, they sometimes cover your phone !
