I have a Sony CD player / radio in my car. The CDs play OK, but there's no sound on the radio, the stations come up on the display when selected, but there's no noise at all. Anyone hazard a guess as to the cause?

The aerial may have become unplugged at the back. I had this and I assumed that there would just be a hissing sound. There wasn't it was just quiet. Take out the radio and check that the aerial is plugged in and that the plug is not corroded etc.

Thank you for that, but I fiddled about with all the knobs and buttons yesterday and the sound came back, but then 10 minutes down the road it all faded away again as if someone had turned the volume down.
