Does a male get his state pension on the day of his 66th birthday?

I have worded that badly.  State pension is always paid in arrears so it is backdated to his birthday.

No, he currently gets payment from that date but it doesn't appear in his account until four or five weeks later, usually. It might be sooner if he is lucky 

I don't think one's sex is relevant now.

It's not automatic, it has to be claimed I believe.

And, Ellie, just in case you're unaware, it has to be applied for where once it used to be automatically awarded. 3 month before reaching the requirement age.
