An hour before we were due to go to Ratty's end-of-year celebration at his school we've had a text message saying that it has been cancelled to to the sickness level. I'm not sure whether this is Teachers or children but I took a day's leave for this, and I daresay I'm one of many who did. I know it can't be helped but I'm very disappointed.

What's cheesed you off today?

The internet. It's been up and down like a tart's knickers and is becoming very disruptive. I've got deadlines to meet and it is a serious pain in the posterior.

How frustrating, BM. Mine's not been great for the last few days.

Now had text to say the school is closing down, come and get your sprogs...
Aww, what a disappointing start to the day.
Whatever sickness is going around, hope you and little one don't catch it.

So do I, Patsy. I always worry when little one is poorly and not eating as he has no spare padding, he's so scrawny.

I hope you're day is going well xx

YOUR day.
Yes, it is a worry. Aren't you going on holiday soon?
Im not sleeping very well lately. Can't get going with anything... :-)
O.h got a cough & runny nose. Hope I don't catch it. We're going on holiday in less than 2 weeks. Can't get myself into gear..

We go to Gdansk a week on Monday. We should have been going to Poole on 08 August but that's been postponed to next year now as it's the husband's granddad's funeral on 09 August. We are going to Turkey on 19 August - hopefully Easyjet won't cancel that ! I'd be devastated.

I'm sorry to hear that's your not sleeping. Sometimes a warm bath and warm milk before bed helps.

Vicks First Defence Nasal Spray is fabulous for stopping a cold in its tracks. I've carried it around ever since I had Pneumonia and the "supercold" in the same year (2021). As soon as you feel the slightest scratch in your throat you spray it up both nostrils a few times a day for a few days and it really, really works!

Good Lord, what is wrong with my grammar today??
the local store was out of Cambazola.....

Now that's practically a crime against humanity, DT.
Thankfully nothing has hacked me off today, except the weather, but when I was working I'd have been seriously HO too if I had taken a day off for nothing. Although if you were in work and they closed the school down you might be equally HO!

Enjoy a bonus afternoon with the little one and stay away from that virus or whatever it is that's going around.

I'm stuck indoors wacthing the tennis. Not my favourite passtime but no dount others would love to be in my position.

The weather is rather pants, Maydup. In-laws have driven down to Cornwall today and it rained all the way down.

It's a good job I've got Monday off and I'm WFH on Tuesday as there's no guarantee that the school will reopen on Monday. Next week is his final week in Reception.

If you're watching Tennis you should perhaps have some strawberries and cream and a glass of something chilled to go with ;)
Not long for Gdansk then! Hope it all goes to plan, also your holiday in Turkey.
Sorry you couldn't make Poole, but unforseen things has a way of changing plans. Condolences, by the way, to your husband & family.
That's good to know about Vicks first defence nasal spray. I'm popping out later as we've got to pick little grandson up from school, so I will buy some. Glad it worked for you :-)
Off to meet Lech Walesa then, Lady CG.

I didn't know Gdansk was a holiday destination but then I have never been there, only the capital and Krakow. Would like to go to the Carpathians as in the Tatra mountains....

Was he your bogey-man, retro?

I think the airport is Lech Walesa airport, isn't it? It's just a 3-day break my my only previous experience of Poland was Krakow in 2019 and it was such a beautiful city that I really wanted to go back. I would like to experience Lublin and Wroclaw in the future, and definitely Warsaw. Maybe you would like Zakopane, DT?

Thanks, Patsy. Everyone is relieved that he's no longer suffering.
Question Author
I'm pretty sure we're flying to Lech Walesa airport. I'm not sure when it was named after him.
