So?
That's equivalent to £36 per hour. This RAC link (dated last October) seems to suggest that's a rather high figure:
https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/learning-to-drive/how-much-does-it-cost-to-learn-to-drive/

However this link, which looks at average prices around the UK, suggests that it's probably fairly typical:
https://www.nimblefins.co.uk/cheap-car-insurance/average-cost-driving-lessons
Ultimately it's all about what it's worth to you.

Being an older guy everything seems ridiculously expensive to me. But £36/hr for professional tuition, use of their car, access to online tutorials too, seems a reasonable rate.
Gosh it was £10 an hour when I learned to drive.
And free tuition on how to put the bridle on!

;-)
Lol zacs
;-)
Incidentally, it was the same price when I learned to drive as well, Red (I think). 40 years ago this December. Aaaaargh.
LOL.
Jeez I feel better now - mine was 33 years ago this October
Good grief, mine were £1 12s 6d.
The 6d being for the bloke with the red flag? ;-)
was just thinking the same zacs. red and ubasses - mine went up to 11.50 PH when i was learnng, and i was scandalized! mind you, petrol was 50p P/L then too
50p per gallon, you mean, bednobs?!

I remember it going up to £1 a gallon and wondering whether i could afford to drive any more!
Used to cost me less than a tenner to fill my fiat 126 when I passed my test
I taught my son to drive and he then had a few lessons with a professional. That was 23 years ago I felt very pleased with myself. It saved us a lot of money. It would never have worked with his Dad!!
my dad attempted to teach me to drive - took 1 lesson for him to decide it would not work!
Actually my son and I got on well with it. He drove to college15 miles away and I carried on to work for the next 15 miles. The first drives with him through the city went well. I remember one day falling asleep on a long drive and being woken up by him. 'Mum you're meant to be teaching me to drive' His dad would have ended up with blue air in the car. The only thing the professional did was get him to drive faster!
Dad let me drive his huge estate from Coltishall to Buxton - those roads are not great at the best of times - now imagine a learner driver in a huge beast of a car - he used to like to say that I drove him to drink!
However, he also said I was the best driver out of all his children so that was a huge compliment.
Most Norfolk roads are a nightmare aren't they Red. They might be low on traffic but narrow bendy roads don't help learner drivers. And not having any motorways in Norfolk made it difficult. I left that to the professional
