I've seen a canvas picture on e-bay and it's asking if I want it laminated.
What would be the advantage of that, I've never had a canvas laminated before and don't know if it might spoil the look of it. TIA.
They recommend it be laminated and I wonder if this is to perhaps keep it clean, but I wouldn't want to spoil the look of it.
Just wondered if anyone else has seen a laminated canvas before.
A genuine oil on canvas should be varnished to protect the colour. Laminating is probably a modern version of this but it doesn't look right in my opinion, it's too glossy but then again some artists are now covering their oil paintings with glass, so I guess it's all down to personal preference
they just say it's to protect prints. But if you hang it out of direct sunlight and don't have violents cats or children, I'm not sure what it needs protecting against. I wouldn't bother, personally.
