I have just changed phones from Sony Xperia to Motorola Moto E7i Power, on the Xperia I used 'Messaging' to send text messages, on the Motorola Messaging is not an option, it has 'Messages', I've tried all sorts to try and install it but cannot seem to be able to do it, any techies out there that can help me please, thanks.

It may be no help, but on my Motorola it does indeed use messages for texts.

I did not need to download or install it, it was already there
I'm lost!

'Messaging' and 'messages' are just different names for basically similar apps. 'Messages' doesn't require downloading or configuring; you just use it directly (as you do with the phone app). I can't understand what it is that you're trying to do.

Buenchico, I've been so used to using text on my ild phone, on the new phone its so different.
What is the best app for sending texts, thanks.
Have you got an icon at the bottom of your screen for messages?

It's a blue circle with a white speech bubble, that has three blue horizontal blue lines.
Hopkirk, my phone's messaging icon is completely different and green. Probably differs with phone makes.
Why do you need an app to send a text?
Mine is a Motorola,like Saintpeter's.

Hopkirk ..... no, there isn't an icon, if I want to send an sms I have to go into apps store and click on it there, I've tried to make it my default messaging app but it won't let me, also, how do I get the icons to other apps on to my screen?
Any help much appreciated, thanks.
I don't have the same Motorola, so may not be able to help. My messaging app is in a locked section at the bottom of the home screen. Any other apps I download automatically appear on the screen, though I can hold my finger on them and move them.
Do you have a row of 4 or 5 icons at the bottom of your home screen?
As said above you should have a message icon on your home screen. I I have never heard of a phone not having this already set up for you.
This link shows you the icon to look for and how to message.

hopkirk .... at the bottom of my screen i have, blue phone(for making calls), then a gap (where I assume the message app should be), then 2 google apps and then the camera. If I swipe up I go into the Apps and if I click on the Messages App it says 'to use messages make it your default SMS app', under that is 'Set default SMS app', if I click on that nothing happens, I'm stumped I'm afraid!
So am I, but hopefully someone more knowledgeable may look in.

If you are with a major mobile company, perhaps nip into one of their shops for advice. Alternatively take it back to the retailer you bought it from, and say it might be faulty. They might be able to help.
