... boy #1 appears to be smashing his course (touch wood). He has passed all of his assessments, including one with an 80% failure rate (students in their final year are still trying to pass it). He’s currently on his first week of his ambulance placement following a proper shift pattern (which I think is pretty brutal) and has been to a category one, done a hospital handover, an ECG and had a nice chat with some people in Hazmat suits :)

Proud mummy moment!!
Sounds like he's doing well and the job is interesting too.
Wow! Go, boy #1. :-)
Yes really thrown himself into this and obviously loves what he is doing. Much respect for him. A big smile on Mum's face, I can see! :-)
I hope my grandson does as well as it’s his chosen field, well done your boy
Note to self: If planning on having an accident, try to ensure that it's in North Somerset, as the ambulance crews around there seem to know what they're doing ;-)

Well done, Sherrardt!

All I did for 95% of my time at uni was get drunk and do stupid ***, I message him and he’s revising or making notes. I have to tell him to have some fun or send him extra money to get some beer to treat himself. I am very proud of him and I couldn’t do what he’s doing, it’s a lot for a 19 year old no wonder there aren’t many young ones on the course.
Well done boy#1. He's proving himself to be a great human being.
Splendid news, all power to him!
>>> "All I did for 95% of my time at uni was get drunk . . . "

Only 95% of the time, Sherr? I thought that a minimum of 99% of time spent on such pursuits was the requirement for success in higher education. (It was for me, anyway!)

;-)

Teaching practice got in the way of giving it 100%
I spent almost the entirety of my last 6 months of finals in the Cittie of York. Oops.

You should be rightly proud, Sherr. And how lucky are we to have such dedicated new paramedics?
Very well done to boy #1.

I never went to uni but still managed the 95% ;-)

I didn’t realise how rigorous the course was going to be so early on.
Well done that boy! My godchild is now a paramedic around Nottingham area - after gaining a 1st in Biological sciences and then trying a year teaching. Realised that this wasn't the way to go (good) and went into the ambulance service. It is very tough, but said godchild has now qualified as grade 1 and delivered several babies on route. Now a very happy, satisfied, continually challenged person. Hope boy No. 1 (there isn't a hash key, I've checked) continues to do as well. It is tough and manic, but if it suits then you are special and slot in.
