...but I'll sort him!

I put my last remaining apple on a skewer hammered into a fence thing in the middle of my garden....a fieldfare arrived and that apple was going to be his!
He fought off blackbirds, blue tits, a wren and a robin, sparrows and a thrush.....he was a feisty bird....when he could eat no more and needed a break he guarded the apple from a branch just above....and managed to eat the whole apple by dusk.....

Tomorrow I shall buy some more apples and put two on skewers far away from each other on either side of the garden just to see how he protects both....... :-)

He fought of a Robin, that fieldfare is a proper tough guy.
Tough little thing! There seems to be a lot of them about lately. Fascinating watching them..

At one point, Tony....he flew onto the side fence to chase off a blackbird......had I been quick enough I'd have hidden his apple before he got back to it.... :-)

They are beautiful birds, Patsy.....one stripped all the berries in the front garden today......x
Mmmmm two skewers = two fieldfares probably, gness.
I've had redwings around this week. Haven't seen any for years.

Hmmm.....I've seen two, Tony.....so it's three skewered apples then!

I'm hoping for some redwing, Gill.......a fleeting glimpse last year but this weather may bring more.....x
There were two redwings walking around my garden this morning. Sadly, the blackbirds chased them away.
Skuas?
Inland?
Hi Shoota. Thought you were in France.
(Actually, you could be in France!)
I was in Lancashire which is not in France.
I am supposed to be in France.
But I got stuck in Lancashire.
Now I am in neither.
There were 40 or 50 field fare in the field next to my house earlier in the week - such pretty birds, don't think I've seen them before (only saw one lonely one today but this is still snow on the ground).
Where's Neither, Shoots?

Loads of Fieldfare in our local park. Lovely birds, darting about.
