Sorry for the mobid subject. Did you ask permission from landowner/parks etc when you scattered your family member`s ashes?

*morbid*
I would. Especially if it's a public place.
I haven't done it but known people who have - most people were not really in a place it would bother anyone so no permission sought.

If more public then it may be advisable to ask.
I think perhaps you should, otherwise it might be construed as (admittedly relatively harmless) fly-tipping.

It all depends on the nature of the site - in the middle of the New Forest for example I wouldn't bother.
My Mum & Dad's were scattered in the August Garden of the Crematorium where their Services were held, but done by someone who worked there.

Some good advice in the Advice pull-down (Along with a list of those who would definitely refuse)

237SJ as an alternative to scattering the ashes I bought a really lovely terracotta pot and a small tree and put my Mum's ashes in there, that way I feel she is always with me.
All I will say on this matter is check which way the wind is blowing

My Mum wanted her ashes scattered in one of the Royal Parks. I don`t think they look very favourably on it which is a bit of a problem.

Mrs Overall - I might find that remark funny in the future but I don`t at the moment as everything is too raw - sorry.
You're right sadly, they don't approve of the scattering - maybe find a close alternative.

Mum would understand, Mums always do.
they don't seem keen

Unless you're scattering them along the Serpentine in the middle of a Sunday afternoon in summer, I'm not sure anyone would actually notice
Some years ago I was helping out at the family funeral business when we arranged the cremation of an elderly lady. She had two sons who had long since fallen out and one had moved away. The remaining son asked us to scatter the ashes in the garden at the crematorium, which we did.
Two years later, the other son turned up and asked us if we had arranged his mother's funeral. He asked what we had done with the ashes and we told him. He then said
"I was entitled to half of those ashes, do you think you could get them back."
It is not often I am stuck for words......

Mrs Overall -well all I can say is that I am glad that I used a family funeral business that didn`t find a joke in the whole situation.

That`s OK marval
237 - I think what I'd do in your situation is to decant a small amount of ashes and find a nice quiet corner of Mum's favourite Royal Park and quietly scatter them there.

Then find your own special place for the rest.
