I really am hoping that Mic will be home at some point. With this in mind I want to remove a carpet and have new flooring put down. As yet I have not decided what kind of floor, but not carpet. I was checking prices on line. My problem is sizing, different sites say different things. So all you maths buffs can you help please? The room is 3.80 metres X 4.10 metres. How many square metres is that please? Thank you.

15.58 square metres (multiply them together)
How is Mic, Jeza? Do remember us to him .............

Boxy, whilst I don't doubt you one site said 16.8 sm and another said 17.5 sm.
It reminds me of when we had the kitchen tiled. The tiler measured up and told us how many to buy. There were 3 box's left over.

Ann, I always keep Mic up to date with AB. He has good days and bad days. Since the stroke he is a different person. It's hard to get my head round at times. Thanks for asking.
They may need the larger area to accommodate the shape of the room if you are considering something like lino where they may have to cut shapes out and therefore waste some.
The exact area in metres is 15.58 but what you have to buy will depend on the size it comes in and will without doubt be more . For example if it were carpet that is usually 4m wide so you would need 4.10 of it (16.4) to cover the room and there would be stuff left over. Vinyl is often 2m wide and laminate sold by the exact square metre, you are bound to have some wastage.. Whatever I hope you get your wish and Mic comes home to you.

Shoota, it's a good job I remember the 50's, otherwise I would say lino, what's lino.
Excel did the calculation for me, jeza, but you have to allow for wastage etc when you actually buy the flooring....

Best wishes to mic - not sure if I've missed anything, did the plan for his care at home package come about yet?
It's still 'big' in France Jez.
Keep that hope in your heart Jeza - I agree with the maths, but as said above you will have to be guided by what the size of the flooring is you choose.

You can get very nice Vinyl Flooring in 4 metre widths and very easy care too.
Real Lino is very expensive now.

The occ therapist has paid a visit. TOLD me what I need to do. Have a meeting with some department or another can't remember the name to be assessed as to how much it will cost us per week. Can't wait for that. You work all your life pay your dues save for your retirement and bang, gone.
We should have partied and p1ssed it up the wall instead of saving for a fun filled retirement.
I understand where you are coming from, but that is not the type of people you are, hope they soon get things sorted for you.
..and from me, Jeza - fingers crossed for you both.

Mamya, I'm not angry just a bit deflated. Who ever said life was fair.
Jeza, glass half-full and all that crap. At least Mic should be home soon. Not the same, but I do have a tiny insight into how *** things can turn so I can see your point of view. When he does come home, if things are getting a bit much please get some help/assistance/extra pair of hands. You're no good to Mic if you are not on top of your game, x
We're all hoping that the carers-coming-in package will materialise for you, to give you the support and physical help you both need.
Question Author
Sher, they are insisting on 2 carers 4 times a day. I have to agree or they will put him in a care home. In their dreams.
That sounds reasonable, jeza, and (although you might not want it) a huge relief for you not to have to be on call 24/7 for mic's needs. I hope sincerely that it works out for you both.
Give it a chance, may well turn out to be the best thing for you both - Mic home and not all of the responsibility for his care on your shoulders, x
