Hi all, hope you are all well.

I have no idea what to do about this so any advice or explanations would be great - I'm 31 weeks, and had my 3rd scan this morning to check the baby's heart coz I was born with holes in the heart (Ventricular Septal Defect)which were surgically repaired at 20 months. During the scan the baby was taccycardic (sp?) with a heart rate of 170bpm.
The scan person couldn't see any heart defects but was quite concerned about the heart rate and asked for a second opinion, she then sent me through to speak to the consultant, but i ended up seeing some other doctor who had no idea who I was and wasn't familiar with my case at all, she even asked if I'd had any scans!!

when I told her about the scan I'd just had she got quite flustered and began shaking and went to find out what to do. I was then taken for a CTG? to monitor the baby's heart rate again, this showed that the heart rate was still high but just within the normal range whatever that is, when this was finished the results were shown to the consultant and i was told to make another apointment for 36 wks.

so why as the baby's heart so fast? will this cause any problems for delivery? My heart rate is usually high around 90 - 100, is this the reason and if thats my resting heart rate am I a risk to the baby if my heart rate goes up?

I'm just SO fed up with seeing different ppl each appointment, and having to explain my entire medical history, noone seems to know what to do about me and or have the authority to answer my questions and make descisions about my treatment. I have so many questions and I never get any answers!

Ok all this probably makes no sense, but I feel a bit better for getting all off my chest!!

I know how you feel, I had a bad experience last time duing pregnancy with having fetal distress for a week in hosp and after seeing a different doctor for each day i was there (like you had to explain the whole thing all over again!) I finely was rushed in for C-section under general!

Now I'm under a consultant and low and behold, not seen same doctor and they keep giving me trainees!!!!

I'm a bit less patient this time so I am able to demand a few things and get better answers! I'd give your midwife a ring and get her to explain things or at least tell you who you are best to talk to!

I bet you are fed up, and leaving you in a fluster will only make you worry! Keep us updated chick x x x x

Hi andrea, just to let you know that i phoned most of the numbers in my notes (they wern't even for the right hosp!) and eventually made another appointment, but its not till monday, they did tell me though that it wasn't serious or they'd have seen me about it yesterday.

Like you I'm under a consultant and she seemed great the one time that I met her, I just wish I could see her every time as she actually seemed to know who I was!!!

Oh well just gotta try not to think about it too much I guess.

Try not to worry too much k8, as youve said, they would have seen yiu yesterday had it been serious. They will probably keep an eye on it as routine.

Keep us up to date on how you go :)
Glad you're getting somewhere and feeling better about it! At least you have an appointment now.

If I were you I would spend the next few days writing down any questions you need answered and take it with you, I tend to forget things and end up coming from there feeling annoyed to have forgotten to ask!

Let us know the outcome! I have midwife today and hope the bump has turned now! Think she might have.... hoorey!
