Wihch model of Vauxhall in the 60's / 70's, was so powerful that prospective owners were given a high speed course of driving before being allowed to take one on the road. ? I may be wrong with the years but it was some time ago

The Vauxhall Lotus Carlton?
The VLC however started production in 1990.
Possibly the Firenza 2300.
Surely those are two words that cannot go together.
They can in the case of the Lotus Carlton, Hopkirk.
1960's, could also have been the Brabham SL/90 Viva.
Chevette HS?
2.3 litre Slant Four engine, using a sixteen valve cylinder head, with 135 hp.
400 were built so it could compete in Group 4 rallying.
You'd struggle to find one now as they oxidised at an alarming rate.
I had a 1300 Chevette, but everytime I bought parts at my local car shop the owner would say is that the 1300 or 2.3 L ? Always made me smile - I don't suppose too many 2.3 L owners called at his shop !
Yes, Graham, I was about to ask whether it was quick enough not to have melted by the time you got to the end of a journey in the wet. Why were old Vauxhalls so prone to rusting? Perhaps other makes were bad; the old Ford Zephyr was bad; but Vauxhalls certainly were.
