My microwave isn't heating anything. Does this mean it's ready to be thrown out? I've noticed that the disk inside of it (looks a bit like cardboard) is torn, could that have something to do with it?

I dont know what the disc is that you are talking about but tbh its best to get a new one. Dont attempt to open up the back.

The disk is probably the cover of the wave guide if it's inside the mic. You may have got food in the wave guide or the magnetron. Unplug and have look but it sounds like it's buggered and as trim says not worth messing about with. Are the motors going? Is the fan running?
usually cheaper to buy a new one.... I did get one fixed a few years back...cost me £23 and the fix only lasted about six months.
It'll still be fine for salads.

Thanks for your answers. No food could have got in anywhere as I always cover everything up. Decided it needs to be replaced 50€ in the shops here at cheapest so will have a look on internet.
