Wheelie bin etiquette!

Some if not most of you will think it silly, but I am getting fed up with my neighbour sticking their rubbish in my wheelie bin after it it put out on collection day,

There are only two of them in their house, but they fill their wheelie bin and then dump the rest in our, already full bin.

As I leave for work, their bin is in the way of my car, overflowing with rubbish and what they can't get in theirs is in mine.

Perhaps I wouldn't mind so much if they were actually vaguely friendly?

Would it go against etiquette if you tipped them into your bin when they were using it?
oh yes, headwreck, a rats nest was found once the woman had moved out. The poors guys clearing the garden had a shock when they broke into the shed and had hazchem suits and gloves on.

I would normally be all for agreeing with others and saying let them get on with it, but these days people get fined for putting the wrong sort of stuff in their bins. Don't see why you should take the rap for others' rubbish.

You say you work for the landlords - is it possible you could have a word in the landlord's ear?
I would have to face this head on and say something to them-- politely .That you don't mind them putting stuff in the bin but that out of courtesy you would have expected them to ask and not just presume.
Had a similar prob with neighbour on this a while ago-- he used to put filthy stuff in my bin when his was full , stinking nappies , bagged up dog poo, without a word.Actually caught him doing this one day. S o went out and told him that if he did that one more time and I was aware of it he would find it all on his drive. He got unpleasant and began to swear and was quite threatening.

Sure enough the next week same again , so with rubber gloves on I went out and chucked his filthy bags on his drive.I then brought my bin back inside , as I live alone
Our binmen will not take your bin if the lid is up by even an inch or two and woe betide you if it's not on the path .
I left ours just into the drive once .It was in full view but they still refused to take it . I asked the person at the council if they wanted me to run after them and heave it on the cart myself .
We have wheelie bin gestapo of the worst kind round my way .
And if other people are bunging your bin up ,report them .
You're not responsible for their rubbish .
I find people like that really annoying Brenda.............I bet they wouldn't try it on if you had a partner.
continued sorry pressed wrong key--------as I live alone my bin is never full but am not prepared to have someone elses sh*t in it and have to swill it out because it stinks.
He has not done this since.
Craft you could be right -- but I won't be invisible for anyone , not if I think it is justified .
Next time you have a problem getting past the neighbours bin move it out the way.................a long way out the way! Lose their bin too many times and Council will bill them for a replacement .
We have to pay for rubbish collection here in Ireland, and I would lose the plot if some scanger stuck their rubbish in my bins...!
I'd have a face-to-face conversation with them letting them know by them putting their rubbish in your bin, it’s preventing your bin lid from closing properly, and that could attract all sorts.
Our neighbours and we do exactly the same thing. We put things in their bin if ours is full and they do the same with ours if their's is full. If both bins are full we just leave the black bags around the bins and the dustmen throw them in the back of the dustcart. There are no problems.
Are you saying the binmen won't take your bin of if the lid won't shut properly due to their rubbish?

If the binmen still take it, i genuinely can't see a problem in what they're doing.

My MIL has this problem all the time, lives in a block of six flats, her bin has her flat number on it (as do the others) and her bin is always full of the other people's overflow.
I've looked at the other answers, and everyone's shocked and outraged on your behalf HJT, and lol, im still missing why it's such a big deal.
Hide in the bin, and when they open it, jump up and scare the crap out of them.
I often watch the refuse men put other peoples extra rubbish in my bin if their bins are overflowing as they put the bins nearer to the kerb-sides, but as long as its not smelly rubbish I don`t mind.
I think you are all talking a load of rubbish. Sorry, a bit bored.....
