hello,
last year i found out i was the victim of ID fraud, a couple that used to rent a house off me used my details (even tho my birthdate was wrong) and had 6 catalogues and used my name to set up a unsuccesful avon business.

this all came to light and i cotacted the police who have washed thier hands of it saying its nothing to do with them and they wont be pressing any charges.

my credit name was a mess and i have spent over 5 months sending paperwrk here there and everywhere to clear my name, my name still isnt clear and now with the winter taking its grip i tried to get an overdraft at the bank but couldnt ..... tried to get a credit card and couldnt!!

so my question is..... where do i stand, these people have walked away from these debts and left my name in the mud....... can i take legal action against them?

How did it happen? Were they renting the house at the time?
Question Author
it happened from dec 08 to march 2009, yes they were renting the house off me at the time, this couple have now split up and admitted to each other one being responsible for it.
hey Rugely long time no see, jules was asking about you the other night.

I'd try and become a bit friendly with each of the ex-tenants, then get them to spill on each other. make notes, recordings of their accusations, etc. and then file charges.
no proof like them 'grassing' on each other.

hey society, hope your well. tell jules hi.

im afraid the days of being nice to them went bye the bye........ i exchanged very few (but cutting) words with them and in all honesty i cant be in the company of spongers of the system........ vile people...... they rubbed pheoses (sp) onto every wall of the house when they left... i hade to get proffesional cleaners in to get rid of the mess. yuk
My mate Sid was the victim of ID theft. Now we just call him S.
That sounds horrid rugeleyboy. There are a few people out there who give others a bad name.People like that are the little smits that make renting property so hard for the rest of us.As for your ID theft,I take it you have contacted the companys involved,if possible sending them proof of your residence at the time of the theft and maybe even a copy of their residence ie tenany agreement. If all else fails, you can always try the local CAB,I found a gem of an advisor at my local one.Good luck
