BADGER intrusion

At the moment we are being pestered by a blooming pesky BADGER.It keeps digging our lawn, and the lawn has holes everywhere. It really is ruining our lawn.
We have a hedge separating us from a huge field, and in certain places of the hedge we have gaps in it.We have tried filling in the gaps with sharp brambles and holly.
But,this badger is so determined it has actually managed to get through. So, we now have put planks of wood and part of a wire fence along the gaps.
The badger seems to like digging away at the slightly mossy lawn. It's obvious it is trying to get at worms and grubs.
If, by any chance the badger does get through our hedge again, does anybody have any suggestions on deterring badgers from entering your garden??
We have tried sprinkling pepper, and animal prevention spray, but that is short lived when it rains!!!
