I'm not sure about the effect on your foundations with clay soil but I do know these trees grow very high, very quickly and I would be quite concerned about how stable in would be if we had any more severe autumn or winter gales. As it's now at the height where it could possibly reach and damage your house if it were blown over in the wrong direction, I would certainly be thinking it terms of reducing its height quite significantly.
Hi,we had one of these trees behind our house and the roots are very far reaching. The tree was a total nightmare all year round, shedding bark, leaves and seeds. They even ended up in my car bonnet.I moved 6 months ago and went back last week and was glad to see that my old neighbour had had the tree cut down. The roots had started to come up through the pavement. It had been cut down by about 20 feet only a couple of years before.I'd never seen such a fast growing tree.
