any ideas on how to get rid of road tar on living room carpet. Have tried Vanish with no success

Seem to remember reading that eucalyptus oil does the trick.

I heard that toothpaste removes tar, but no idea if it works.Worth a try!

Lighter fluid , but keep blotting it with paper towel to stop it spreading .
