I've just moved into a rented property that has Economy 7. There are two switched - 'On Peak' and 'Off Peak' . Which switch should I have on at what times?

The specific times when Economy 7 applies vary between different regions and at different times of year. The seven-hour period typically starts at around midnight, but may start as early as 10.30pm or as late as 1.30am, and may or may not be continuous. Npower (UK), for example, has the period running from 1am to 8am.

Thanks. So when do I turn my 'On Peak' switch on?

I think your best ringing the supplier as the above says it varys between different regions and times
My meters are at least 20 years old, and every time there is a power cut the times on the meters stop.

My cheap rate is now 7 hours from noon. Last year it was from 10am.

Look at the meters - you should be able to tell.
Surely you shouldn't have to switch anything - it will change automatically. We live in Cumbria and our meter is radio controlled. Our times are 10.30pm to 12.30am and 2.30am to 7.30am off peak............

Ah that's interesting, thanks. So I should have them both switched on at all times and they will change over automatically?
