Are there any girls out there who enjoy/are good at DIY?

I'm a girl and I really enjoy it !! I got a new bed recently and had to put it together. It said on the instructions that it's a 2-man job, but I did it all by myself and it was done in 30 minutes, and I loved every second!!

In fact, I've tended to be better at DIY than most of my boyfriends. Anyone else out there like me?

Not a DIY person myself, but I think I know why it said it was a 2 man job.

One man to put it together and the other to stand over him scratching his nether regions sucking in through his teeth and going "Ooooo no, you don't wanna do it that way- what you need it a supercharged, plutonium powered powerdrill that'll make a massive surge at the national powergrid when switched on"

Man 2 will also be required to take man 1 to the A&E department when man 1 has accidentally drilled through his fingers after throwing a tantrum because neither of them read the instructions prior to assembling.

On the way to A&E they'll discuss why there appears to be several large pieces left over and why the bed slopes.

ROFLMFAO @ BOO!!!

Brilliant! And so very very true.

But you forgot to mention that they get lost on their way to A&E because both of them refused to ask for directions.

:oD
LOL! That's so funny! My other half hates DIY (me girl, he boy) and usually we're to be found with me digging/drilling/sawing and him grinding spices for a lovely curry. I love it, although many sticking doors and other annoyances are testament to my impatience. Sometimes I wish I'd never started, but I'd prefer to screw it up myself rather than watch someone else do it!

There was an ad on a while ago where a woman finishes a self-assembly job while her husband has taken a break.

Currently sitting at my reception desk in my own business, both of which I built :-) *smug grin before catching sweater on snagged laminate top*
Ha ha you lot...so true.We also have role reversal in my house. My husband cooks,I do the DIY.He cannot even change a plug! Well,he can...but can't be bothered.
My local DIY place often say to me,are you gonna be ok tackling this job...(I always tell them I'm doing it,just to see the look on their faces).I've not failed yet.
All women should be able to do simple jobs,I hate, hate, hate to feel helpless and girlie!
I do all the wallpapering and painting in our house-my husband has no interest in it whatsoever.
I love the feeling of satisfaction I get when I've completed yet another room, and can't help feeling smug when someone asks who did it for us.
I also make the curtains at home, yes sometimes they could be bought for less, but again, it makes me feel good to have accomplished something.
These are the things I do best, I'm not a brilliant cook, but hey, you can't be good at everything can you?

I'm definitely feeling the girl power on this thread....

I've come out with two valid points from this discussion which ring true to me;

1) whenever a man has tackled my DIY tasks (because obviously I'm a helpless girlie and they feel they have to come to my rescue!) they usually finish the job to have lots of spare screws, bolts etc. leftover, or like BOO says, the bed is sloping! It makes me shudder to think that somebody has done a bad job of it and that I should accept that standard. So yes, I would rather bodge the job myself thanks and learn the hard way!! hahaha! More often than not it's a good job though. ;o)

2) I hate hate hate hate hate feeling helpless and girlie too. It's just not me. And more so than that, I hate hate hate hate hate men treating me like I'm helpless and girlie!

Rant over.

Now where's me Black 'n Decker Cordless Powered Hand Saw....
