Get it checked by the vet - it could have an infection that is making it go when doesn't realise.

teach it a lesson...put it in a bucket of water.

My cat was doing this and it turned out she had cystitis which is quite common in cats. A course of antibiotics from the vet sorted her out.

Trip to the vets for you and your cat then.

Thank you for your replys I will take my cat to the vets but since asking this question he has not done it. We did buy new bedding and this seems to have worked. thanks again for your help.
