plastering tutorials on dvd and vhs are available also for flat rendering and pebbledashing with a free training manual download at http://www.goldtrowel.org
Well, Plasterer, you've certainly introduced a new twist to this question and answer site.
I don't suppose you'd have a video on how to remove artex by any change?
Question Author
you can steam off artex although its not always that easy. the best thing to do is use a floor scraper with a steel blade to scrape it back smooth, takes about 10 mins a ceiling, makes lots of mess though so use dust sheets or better remove the carpets, then when its fairly smooth just glue and skim, or if you wanted to reArtex you could caulk it by applying artex smooth with a trowel the day before, then reArtex a new pattern. there is a video that covers skimming plaster over artex
I agree with plasterer, scraping off artex makes a horrendous mess. We had our kitchen ceiling done, we covered what could not be removed and were still eating artex for the following month, no offence to the guy who did it, the ceiling is now lovely but do be warned and prepare for mammoth dustinfg and vacuuming afterward
