We,re recently seeded patchy areas of the garden due to the dogs racing round ... The problem is now they have carried seeds on their paws and consequently brought them onto the patio which has resulted in loads of grass growing through the cracks ... I,ve tried Jeyes fluid and weed killer but had no joy

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried Pathclear. I've always found it to work.

You only need to keep the dogs off it whilst it's drying.
There are several environmentally friendly methods of killing the grass, such as 1 quart vinegar mixed with 1/2 cup (up to 1 cup) salt, placed in a spray bottle, or boiling water left from preparing pasta (I know, sounds silly but works), or a propane burner from a DIY store will also do the job. Problem is, they will come back since the medium for plant growth will always be there... dirt. So, it will be an on going battle. If you use the vinegar solution, keep spraying about twice a week. The acetic acid and salt will keep them from coming back any time soon, but eventually something will poke it's green head up.... Best of luck!

I think I understand why your having no joy with the methods you'v tried, most grass leaves have a waxy surface that repells water and therefore does not allow herbicides etc to penatrate easily. One thing you could try is bruising the grass leaves first- get a stiff yard broom and really give it a vigorous sweeping and then apply the treatment asap, I'm sure compman's or Clanad's method/s would work eaqally well! Good Luck.

Ps, a small amount of deturgent, added to the liquid will act as a "wetting agent" to improve absorbtion.

I use Roundup for my patio - kills everything - excluding the dog.
