Hi can anyone tell me wjat sort of fuschias will grow in the north west of england. My inlaws live in Torquay (a lot warmer i know) and they have a lovely display every year, i'd like to do the same here with some hardy fuschias, any ideas.

Thanks janie spider

The most reliably hardiest variety is Fuchsia magellanica 'Riccartonii. Its also very easy to propergate, insert 2" cuttings in 3" pots in a cold frame in summer, you may have success outside too. They will die down in winter and should shoot from the base in spring, cut the dead tops off soon after you see the new shoots. Good Luck.
Mrs Popple is a tough as old boots variety, will withstand all but the coldest winters and will produce a terrific display in the summer.
