I have recently moved to a house which has the whole bathroom panelled in Vitrolite. I am trying to fit a shelf on one of the walls but have so far not been able to drill any fixing holes - a masonry drill will hardly touch it. Any suggestions as to suitable tools for this job ?

Be very careful with Vitrolite, if it breaks it is like glass. My father who is 90 years old collapsed in their bathroom a couple of years back and the bath panel was Vitrolite. He had to have 14 stitches in his head. Take care if you are thinking of drilling it.
You can buy a special glass drill bit. It looks like a spear. (From B.& Q.) I used one recently to drill a hole in the base of a bottle. Use a very low speed, not to much pressure and be patient!, let the drill do the work. If you feel the area is getting hot, spray with water.
