And his paintings ended up in junk shops, and you came across one, would you have bought it?
There's a painting of a bar with welcoming yellow lights under a starry sky.
I would have bought that.

Probably not but then I wouldn't buy paintings by many great artists, not to my taste at all, I'm afraid. I like a lovely, detailed water colour like my dad, aunt and brother paint.
well that would have been easy - -- he never sold ( nor did his brother agent, Modeste) a canvas....

not sure what happened after his death - some art lover will know
roopower - do they make a living out of it ? - Van Gogh didn't during his lifetime LOL.
bagga - never sold a canvas when he was alive
oh, he gave a few away ( would you count an ear as a work of art, anyway he tried to give his ( ear) to a local madam)
geoffrey probably will tell us?

were you being saucy and chose Van Gogh because you KNEW that he didnt sell well during his life?
mad he was
compared to him I just dont score
Geoffrey, 9.49. My father just painted for himself, aunt belonged to a group and sold at ,open days, brother paints for himself but has done commissions and presents.

Perhaps Santa will bring you a case of absinthe for Christmas and you can play catch up.
I would buy one of the sunflower ones.
