....They have a part that screws into a wall and the bit left sticking out then twists perpendicular to the main direction of the screw, this enables you to put the straight bit through a hole and twist to hold it or un twist to remove it. I need some but I have no idea what to search for. Thanks.

You can of course buy them with a plate welded on...that can be fixed with screws and rawplug

The ‘straight bit’ of what?
The only thing that springs to mind - rawplug
Can you take a picture?
What is it for? Your post is not very clear.

Is it a drywall anchor?
take a photo and do a google image search.
What do you want to do with them?
Question Author
I can't find a photo, I've seen them before but I have no idea what to search for.
Take a photo yourself and then do an image search
What are you using it for? Are you putting a picture up or building an extension? Etc
Ahh, so you don't have one, sorry.
Maydug, the bendy bit of that goes inside the wall cavity
Wish you'd tell us what you'd use them for, TTT

I have a piece of perspex that I want to anchor, it has a hole I want to be able to slide it on and off, the wall in such a way that it can be held there by turning the end of the device into a T shape. Sorry probably not describing it very well.
