I've been sent two $100 dollar bills which I need to change to pounds - is the post office the best place to change them and is the rate likely to change anytime soon?
The best thing you can do is look up all the foreign exchanges in your local town, give them a ring, ask for their buyback rate and any commission you will have to pay. Then go for the best deal. Include the post office, and if you have a large supermarket nearby. Our Sainsburys does foreign money.
Do you know any one who travels to the US a lot, in more normal times? We never swap money back, once got chatting to some Americans in the Travel Money queue in Sainsburys, they were changing dollars, we were buying, we retired to the cafe and carried out an illegal transaction of benefit to us all!
Just looked up buy back rate and its £132.45 from Post Office (current exchange rate is approximately £75 per $100) so I think I will hang on to them for a while and wait till someone is going over there next year. It will stop me spending it!
