my machine is making a racket, like having ball bearings in the drum, anyone know what this might be. I am not using it just in case. I have called out the engineer,.

I have no idea. But you have done the right thing calling out the engineer.

what a palaver that was. I just thought someone here might have an answer as to what it could be.
Maybe the “ ball bearings “ have gone. The drum bearings that is. Or maybe something was left in someone’s pocket.
Probably bearings.
These days they are in a sealed drum, so sadly its cheaper to get another machine, ( any reconditioned shops nearby?)
^^^was just about to say the same. Only high-end machines (think Miele for example) have replaceable bearings - all the rest need the drum replacing.
Open the door.
Try lifting the drum up and down.
If you can, then it is definitely the bearings :-(

thank you, i won't touch it now, i have a insurance plan
that should cover me.
That's good thinking Ems.
My washer started making loud noises a couple of years ago and when I called out the engineer, he said I needed new 'brushes'. Don't know exactly what these brushes are, but he replaced them and said I should get another five years out of my washer.
Brushes are the electrical contactor's in the motor.

i shouldn't have to pay for anything, if it can't be repaired, they should...... replace the machine.
Oh thanks Theland. Yes, if you're insured emmie you'll be ok. I wasn't, but it didn't cost a lot to replace them at all.
I've fitted loads of brushes and bearings.
Yes brushes are easy and cheap to buy.
Bearings? Not these days I'm afraid.
I have a hoover washing machine
I didn't take out the insurance when it finally breaks I will just buy a new one with the money I have saved from not paying the insurance
it is getting a bit noisy now after 4 years though
