We have a pathetic bulb in our garage which cast hardly any light. A relative of mine has told me that you can now buy strip lights which will fit into a bayonet socket light fitting. I have looked on the internet but cannot find anything like that.

Can anyone help?

argos had them, but that was a while ago.worth a try

Thanks Tommy. I'll have a look at Argos.
Question Author
I can't find any but thanks for the suggestion, Tommy.
Don't no where you will get one from but you could just get normal fluorescent fitting and wire it into existing lighting circuit.
You don't say what power bulb you have at the moment. You can get high-power LED bulbs (200w equivalent or greater); they would increase your light level without risking overheating the fitting.
I should have included a link:

Tony, I can't do that because I can't do that. :-)

I have a 60W bulb in there at the moment. What can I replace it with, Bhg?
Question Author
Ah, crossed posts. I was up the ladder. Thank you, Bhg.
^^in bhg's link, I'd be rather worried about the number of 1-star reviews, many complaining of poor quality and "falling to pieces"!
Question Author
Yes, Ginge. I have just read them.
I didn't look at the reviews for that particular bulb; I was just pointing out that high-output LEDs are available. We have had conventional-looking LEDS in our dining room for a few years now, which are about 150w equivalent, made by philips.
Tilly even if you don't buy from amazon, its a good place to look at the options. eg a 23 watt low energy can be the equivalent of 200w you need to know your lumens for brightness and your kelvins for colour and of course what kind of fitting you need. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=lightbulb&;rh=n%3A248790031%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A16394297031&dc&qid=1566493772&;rnid=250358031&ref=sr_nr_p_n_feature_four_browse-bin_6

Thanks for that link, Woofgang. That is very helpful.
you are welcome Tilly....finding lightbulbs was a total headache till I got the lumens and kelvins nailed
Why mess about ? Replace existing with LED striplight.
Question Author
I'm messing about Og because I can't replace existing with LED striplight by myself and I'm trying to avoid having to find and pay for a decent electrician.
why do that if you can get sufficient light from a bulb?
Question Author
Well, I will get a decent bulb, Woofgang. I was just hoping that someone would be able to tell me that I could get a strip light that fitted into the existing light socket.
