Can anyone recommend a firm mattress topper that is not too expensive?

My bed, which is only 18 months old, has been used as a trampoline by my two granddaughters and the springs have sagged. This is making me wake up with a sore back.

I’d love a Tempur mattress but they are too expensive at £1500. Thanks.

Mattress toppers seem to be a favourite topic among consumer journalists:

From Ideal Home magazine (published only 3 weeks ago):

From The Telegraph (in June):

From the Evening Standard (also in June):

Looking through those reviews suggests the Silentnight Airmax might meet your needs. (£25.99 single, £30.99 double on Amazon, where 80% of 281 reviews give it either 4 or 5 stars but a smaller number of people don't like it ):

Thanks, Chris. I’ll have a good read of them. X
Chrissa this is from Which:
There has been a tie for the best mattress topper brand in this year's survey: The White Company and Ikea both get the highest customer score - with 77% a piece. Hot behind them is M&S and John Lewis

Don't buy Dunelm or Silentnight.
....even a "firm" mattress-topper isn't going to improve things if the underlying problem (literally) is sagging springs in the mattress.
Agree with Ginge, I'd get a new mattress.
A topper won't alleviate sagging springs underneath.

Really??? Flip!!! I think you’re right. :((
Funnily enough, we were on John Lewis on Monday looking and feeling their mattress toppers with a serious view to buying one. Having looked and felt their whole range we decided not to bother.
Most (unless they’re memory foam or tempura) are just like thick duvets. We don’t want memory foam or tempura.
We’re going to invest in a new mattress instead.
‘In’ not on..doh!
A topper is a false economy in reality. You'd also have to buy new sheets.

Yes. I think you’re all right. There’s a Dreams Bedding Co about 30 miles from me. I think a trip down town is called for, where I can try them all out.

Thanks guys. X
