Electric ignition on cooker gone mad

THe electric ignition on our gas cooker hob has devdeloped a mind of its own. It keeps clicking to ignite all on its own! Why? and how can we stop it???

The most common reason for this is water inside (or behind) the ignition button. Try spraying the button with a water displacing spray such as WD40. Remember to unplug the cooker from the mains first if the ignition is mains powered!
