A friend, who was standing behind me, spoke to me. I turned to speak to her, but when I turned around again, the money had been taken back into the machine.
Its a safety feature, just in case you walk away without taking the money.....its lessens the chance that somebody else will whip it away.
If this happens....don't panic !
Get in touch with your card issuer and explain what happened. I did that and the money was refunded to my bank account by 16:00 the same day.
According to Tesco Bank, it happens all the time !
Perhaps that is what happened to the young lady ?

So long as you make date time and place clear
they can charge ten quid I think
but they CAN'T make you fill out a pink form of 25 pages with the words - "no formy no filmy"
post further in law if you are going down this route and the data controller starts arrissing around

There is a lesson too be learned here. I try not to use street-based ATMs if I can help it. There is a wonderful LINK machine inside my local Co-op, which I much prefer to use.
I also make sure that I concentrate as much as possible, although that didn't seem to work last week ! It happened about a year ago as well, but that time it was only £10.
