Noticed a pair of full length lined curtains in the spare room are looking a bit manky - largely due to muddy cats rubbing round them.

Not sure what the material is and I cant see any washing instructions - the lining is standard curtain lining by the looks of it, the curtains themselves are in quite a heavy material which feels like it has some linen in it, but realistically could be anything. Dare I stick in the machine?!!!!!

I'd stick them into the machine with a low temperature - and a small rinse - then drip dry.
PS One pair at a time of course^^^^
do you have a delicate cycle 30 degrees ?
I would give it a go. I took curtains labelled 'dry clean only' to be cleaned - cost of cleaning £100 - and the lining shrunk, rendering the curtains unusable.
Tut and you could have shrunk them for nothing!

Hmmm, I'll give it a go on a delicate wash. I dont fancy paying £100 to let someone else shrink them when I can shrink them all by myself. I suppose if the worst comes to the worst, I have another pair.
You could fold them and then let them soak in the bath and agitate them to clean them if you don't fancy sticking them in the machine.

lol, how would you suggest I agitate them Islay? "You stupid curtains....."?

No, nice idea, but that involves more work than just sticking them in the machine and hoping. And a domestic goddess I am not.........
ladybirder, haha! Exactly! That's what annoyed me most! :o)
The cost of dry cleaning is horrendous so if you wash them and it doesn't work it would be cheaper to buy new curtains
Lol you could pretend that you are stamping the grapes in the south of France!

But I like your shouting at them better!!
