Apologies for the dull nature of this enquiry but can anyone tell me how to get mildew off the linings of my living room curtains? I have tried washing them in the machine with stain remover and thery have survived the wash but the stains are still as bad.

Please help as I'm really rubbish at this domesticity lark and I would get serious brownie points for doing something so advanced as getting the curtains clean.

Vigorously brush, rub with lemon and leave outside in the sun (heat kills the mould) if you can before soaking and then washing in biological washing powder.

If that fails (there isn't much sun at the moment) take them to a dry cleaner for the professional touch.

Thank you ethel. Great tip. I'll try it. Might have to fake the sun tho!. AT
Mix Vanish Oxy Clean to a thick paste, rub into mildew stains, leave for a couple of hours then wash as normal
